ABOUT ME

Welcome to my art portfolio & website. My name is Brianna Christine Martinez & some of you might even know me as ‘Karma Monoxide’. I’m a multi-talented artist, born & raised from the outskirts of Los Angeles & have studied art for nearly 20 years.

Since I was a small child, I have always dabbled in arts & crafts which eventually turned into an artistic career choice. It became a daily activity with my older siblings & I quickly learned the skill of creation ran through my veins. In high school, I received a 1st place award from Charter Oak High School in an Art Competition titled ‘My Hero’, in which I drew one of my eldest siblings. Throughout my adolescent to adult life, I have come across difficult turning points that have stalled my artistic dreams from turning into reality, but I persevered regardless.  These struggles can be seen through my personal art & the way sets are transformed through emotion. I continue to pursue art via academia, have earned an Associates in Fine Art, as well as a Scenic Artist Certificate while also working towards my Bachelor’s in Studio Arts. I have challenged myself with various mediums from costuming, photography, sculpture, scenic painting, prop-making to graphic designing, set dressing & body painting. Through my artistic journey I have had the honor of Leading as Charge Scenic Artist at multiple Theatrical Sets with Fullerton College, Curtis Theatre & MTW in Long Beach.  My jobs have also consisted of Knott’s Scary Farm Scenic Artist, Renaissance Faire Sign Painter, Prop Master & Scenic Specialist for FILM. I have won multiple costume contests including Wasteland Weekend 2024 & local Los Angeles competitions.  My Body Painting services consist of private events, including ‘BOOM!’ in West Hollywood. Along with curating multiple Art Shows, including one that included a fundraiser for school supplies in which $1,300+ was raised.

I will continue to challenge & grow my skills through passion & curiosity. The work I do will always be created with intention & every project I touch will emit the love & joy I receive from making visions come to fruition.
